Wild Rosa - Connection & Belonging
Wild Rosa understands the psychosocial benefits of outdoor experiences. After an annual camping adventure between three mates proved to strengthen their own friendship connection, an overwhelming passion emerged to share this love for outdoor experiences. Wild Rosa was formed to make a difference, by empowering young people to spend time in nature and amongst its diversity and beauty build valuable connections with others.
Digital technology has created more ways to stay connected. However, where these connections lack companionship or quality, we can still experience isolation, disconnection, and loneliness. Strong connections with family, friends and the community provide us with happiness, security, support and a sense of purpose, which is an important protective factor against anxiety and depression.
Nature Connects
Wild Rosa’s mission is to combat the epidemic of loneliness among young people, especially living with intellectual and learning disabilities, by the means of outdoor experiences. The company’s vision is to future proof young peopleby making friends through adventure and the outdoors, where personal growth is encouraged and nurtured.
The programs are both outcome and research driven by working with the Occupational Therapy team to ensure that the programs are backed by evidence-based practices and can be measured for impact on the individuals. Focusing on physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being can lead to confidence, connection, independence, and growth for each participant.
Wild Rosa is dedicated to serving a diverse range of individuals, including child safety and NDIS participants, providing a variety of programs on Queensland’s beautiful Gold Coast. These include holiday programs, overnight camps, term programs, and out of school care.
All participants that complete the programs develop a sense of belonging and take away the skills and confidence to build lifelong connections with others.
Values
Every program and team are guided by Wild Rosa’s core values.
- Meaningful relationships
We all want and need meaningful relationships in our community. A meaningful relationship is one which values integrity, compassion, trust and forgiveness, not simply spending time with someone.
- Be active
We are happiest when we are physically active, with people in our community. These experiences improve our quality of life.
- Mindfulness
Take time to pay attention to the world. We are not the center of the universe, and it has some great things to show us.
- Keep learning
We should continue to try new things, not settle for what we know we can do.
- Generosity
We are not talking about money here. Living generously seriously improves our wellbeing and helps solidify our friendships.
Join Wild Rosa to empower young people to reach their full potential and eliminate social isolation.
